DIDJERIDOO IN THE AMERICAN OUTBACK

A entertaining and educational presentation from one of America’s finest didjeridoo players. A lively and engaging show that can include interactive activities as the audience learns how the instrument is played. David demonstrates his use of the didgeridoo in contemporary styles of world music and also presents information on the history and cultural importance of this unique Aboriginal instrument.

This show is often presented in Schools, Libraries, Museums and other educational Institutions.  David is available for school assembly programs, classroom demonstrations and workshops as well as teacher training in Aboriginal art, culture and music.  This program typically runs $400… in schools this includes two 45 minute assembly presentations.  Travel expenses are added to any event more than 100 miles from David’s home near Sacramento CA.

PETROGLYPH

Just as petroglyphs are found around the globe, with many cultures creating different kinds of rock art, so all peoples share a universal urge to make music. Musicians, educators, and story-tellers Pete Fairley and David Blonski lead students in this exploration of music from multiple cultures and historical eras, combining David’s multi-instrumental melodic skills with Pete’s study of world percussion and rhythm. As students experience the sounds of instruments ranging from the Australian didgeridoo and the tabla drums of India to the electric guitar and drum kit, Pete and David weave a narrative linking the ancient with the modern, and highlighting the commonalities shared by diverse peoples worldwide. Opportunities for student participation occur throughout the program, and teachers will find they can integrate the experience into lessons in social studies, math, and science as well as music.

BEYOND A DREAM

David’s new rock band with Andy Lagomarsino who played with the legendary Ron Wood and the Surfaris. This is David’s most exciting project to date featuring orginal songs spanning 5 decades of songwriting in a folk and pop-rock format.  This show is often accompanied by a multi-media extravaganza that includes stage lighting and video.  For additional information you can go to the Beyond A Dream band web site for audio and video of their music and performances.  The music is uplifting and joyuous with just the right amount of rock n’ roll edge and social conciousness to give the band some depth and we include opportunities for audience participation to keep everyone engaged.

Art in Nature Festival

David’s unique One-Man-Band performance featuring instruments from around the globe. David plays exotic flutes, didgeridoos, bells, chimes, gongs, percussion, and wind synthesizer as he blends them with nature sounds and voice to create evocative soundscapes of indescribable beauty. This can also be presented as a mutit-media show featuring the video projection of his amazing fractal art and beautiful nature photography.

DIDJERIDOO WORKSHOPS & PRIVATE LESSONS

David teaches at many festivals and workshop prices can vary from free to $40 a session depending upon the event. Large groups or corporate sponsors may hire David for $350 to give a two hour workshop on playing the didjeridoo which can cover beginning and or advanced playing techniques. David is also available for private lessons at $40/hour.

DIDJERIDOO MADE EASY

David presents this beginning level didjeridoo class with enthusiasm, warmth and humor. His step by step lessons will take you from beginning to advanced playing techniques in an easy to understand and follow format. David has more than 20 years of experience with the didjeridu as a performer, recording artist, teacher and craftsman and eagerly shares his knowledge of the instrument. David will focus on tonal variations, dynamic vocal accents, animal calls, circular breathing & contemporary styles of rhythmic playing.

TAKING YOUR PLAYING TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Better articulation, faster and more dynamic rhythms, explosive vocals and the bounce breath form of circular breathing used in fast paced rhythmic playing. David holds nothing back in this extremely enjoyable and informative workshop on advanced didjeridoo techniques. David often lets his class direct the material covered as he shares everything in his grab bag of tricks. You’ll be delighted at how quickly you can master these techniques. While recommended for intermediate level players and above, beginners can also benefit from the deeper exploration and more in-depth explanations offered in this class.

 DAVID BLONSKI WITH MANDRA

Mandra does not perform regularly anymore but can be hired for reunion performaces.  In this band, David joins forces with guitarist and song writer, Jim Eaglesmith & percussionist extraordinare, Pete Fairley. Together they create a fusion of old and new, contemporary and tribal, east and west, north and south. A joyous musical adventure full of spirit, beauty, inspiration and wonderment. The first step of their musical journey together has been recorded and released on CD as “Hearts Embrace, Awaken Your Senses”.
